Hi there, I’m Shelia
Do you feel like the weight of the world is weighing you down? Life’s struggles are becoming unmanageable? Managing family, relationships and job is getting too hard?
I help clients find a healthy perception of themselves and strengthen their relationships. We can partner to identify what works and what doesn’t to create a new path that works better. I have experience with individual, family, and group modalities and will use an integrative approach based on your needs. This may include: client-centered, mindfulness, solution focused, and trauma-informed techniques.
I love helping both children and adults to cope better with stress, feel more hopeful about the future, and to process difficult moments from the past. Many of my clients have the goal to start living a life that aligns with their values; getting closer to what really matters to them. I see the goal of therapy as helping a client to live, work, learn, and play more freely. That might mean helping a child be brave enough to speak in front of their classmates or help an adult learn to set boundaries in their relationships.
I'm a lifelong learner who has many specialties, but my primary specialties would include Exposure and Response Prevention (Anxiety and OCD), Cognitive Processing Therapy (PTSD), ACT (Depression), Theraplay (children 0-5), treatments for neurodiverse peoples (ADHD and ASD), and Psychological Testing. I can also offer services in Spanish and English.
I appreciate the bravery it took to search for a therapist, and I hope I get the chance to help you and your family carve the next step forward. You are welcome to message me with questions or to set up a quick consult call to see what it'd be like to work with me. I guarantee I will respond to your inquiry within 2 business days.

Find the right therapist for you

Factors to Consider When Choosing an Anxiety Therapist in Aurora, IL
Searching for therapists in Aurora starts with knowing what kind of support you want. You may be looking for help with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, or work stress. As you compare Aurora therapists, look for someone whose listed specialties and approach match your needs. A therapist’s bio can help you understand their style, experience, and what sessions may look like before you book.
In a smaller city like Aurora, the right fit may be nearby, or it may be easier to find through virtual therapy with a therapist licensed in Illinois. In-person care may work well if you prefer a local office, while virtual appointments can add more options when your schedule or location limits what is available nearby. As you narrow your search, consider appointment times, whether the therapist is accepting new patients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading profiles closely can also help you compare communication style, session structure, and areas of focus.
Therapy in Aurora can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and make ongoing care more affordable. Headway helps you search for therapists who accept a wide range of insurance plans, see estimated out-of-pocket costs before booking, and book directly when you’re ready.
