I'm passionate about helping people build the skills to cope with emotional and mental health challenges and live healthy, full lives. I work with adults facing relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and ongoing mental health conditions.
My goal is to help you find a healthier perspective on what you're facing and to build practical coping skills you can rely on long after our sessions. Together, we'll draw on the strengths you already have so you can feel more confident and find your direction.
I draw on several approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gestalt therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), and I tailor my work to fit you and your goals.
Hello! My name is Jonathan Centeno, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. Over the last 6 years of my career I have dedicated my life to the beautiful healing art of psychotherapy working and learning alongside many amazing clinicians. My journey has brought me to work with children, adolescents, young adults/adults, couples, and families.
I grew up in a small town in Hawaii, then came to Southern California and began studying psychology in 2001. I completed my master’s degree at Fuller School of Psychology in 2010 and served children and families at a community mental health agency for 10 years, also starting a private practice in 2015. While I loved island life, I’ve put down roots here through friendships, involvement in my community, and my love of LA’s cultural diversity.
Hi, I'm Mitch — a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Vanderbilt University. San Diego has been home since 2020, when the Navy first brought me here.
My background includes pediatrics at Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, inpatient psychiatry in Nashville and San Diego, crisis stabilization, and outpatient mental health care. I’ve worked with veterans, college students, LGBTQ+ individuals, people experiencing homelessness, and patients navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma, substance use, and severe mental illness.
I primarily provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management while integrating supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and practical coping strategies into visits. My approach is collaborative, direct, and grounded in helping people improve day-to-day functioning and quality of life.
I look forward to getting to know you.
