Hi, I’m Christopher, a board‐certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and a background in both healthcare and military leadership. My experience includes working in high‐intensity medical environments where I supported individuals facing significant stress, trauma, and life transitions. I specialize in helping people manage anxiety, depression, trauma‐related concerns, and high levels of stress. My goal is to provide care that is empowering, holistic, and supportive, helping clients build resilience and regain a sense of balance in their lives.
Welcome! I'm Cemetrice a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I belive that seeking help takes courage, and my goal is to create a safe, judgement-free space where you feel heard and supported from the very first visit. I earned my MSN from Northern Kentucky University, and I bring over six years of psychiatric experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I currently hold inpatient privileges at three hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which keeps me connected to full spectrum of mental health care. I work with patients ages 5 and up treating a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and more. My approach combines careful medication management with genuine listening because you're more than diagnosis.
I’m a Doctor of Nursing Practice–trained Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a career shaped by service, compassion, and a genuine love for helping people feel seen, supported, and capable of healing. Before becoming a PMHNP, I spent many years as a CNA and later earned my BSN from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2015 in San Antonio, TX. I worked bedside at University Hospital, transitioned to hospice in 2016, and later served in case management at UTHSCSA. In 2023, I began my DNP–PMHNP program, completing it while working full time at Clarity Child Guidance Center. On December 13th, 2025, I was officially granted the title of “Dr.”, became board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner on February 9th, 2026, and finally obtained my APRN with the Texas Board of Nursing on March 12th, 2026!
My doctoral project focused on reducing seclusion rates for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder using evidence‐based, trauma‐informed interventions—an area close to my heart as a parent of a special‐needs child. I’m passionate about geriatric psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry, and I bring a calm, grounded, and collaborative style to treatment.
I also briefly served in the United States Air Force, an experience that strengthened my commitment to resilience, service, and advocacy. Today, I continue to advocate for women affected by domestic violence, helping them reclaim safety, confidence, and possibility.
On a personal note, I’m a mom of two boys, happily married for 11 years, and the proud owner of four dogs. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me drinking coffee, shopping for plants, collecting perfumes, baking, cooking, or spending time with family and friends. These parts of my life help me stay balanced, grounded, and connected—values I bring into every therapeutic relationship.
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner that is interested in providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health care services through psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. I come from a strong nursing background, with over 10 years of experience working with clients experiencing changes to their mental and physical health in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Find the right psychiatrist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in San Marcos
Searching for psychiatrists in San Marcos starts with knowing what type of mental health care fits your needs. Psychiatrists can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication. Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners can also prescribe and manage medication. Therapists, including those found through searches for therapists San Marcos, therapy San Marcos, or San Marcos counseling, offer talk therapy instead. For concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or obsessive-compulsive disorder, some people look for medication management, therapy, or both. Reading each psychiatrist’s listed specialties and approach can help you choose someone whose training matches what you want support with.
In a smaller city like San Marcos, local psychiatrist availability may be more limited than in larger Texas markets, so virtual appointments can expand your options. You may prefer an in-person office near home, work, or school, or you may want the flexibility of virtual care when scheduling around classes, commuting, or family needs. Medication management visits are often shorter and less frequent than therapy sessions, and some psychiatrists also offer therapy. Some people work with both a therapist and a prescriber. Before booking, review each profile for appointment availability, whether the psychiatrist is accepting new patients, and how they describe their communication style.
Psychiatric care in San Marcos can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you find psychiatrists who may accept insurance, are accepting new patients, and can be booked directly. You can enter your insurance details to verify coverage, see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before booking, review bios, and choose a psychiatrist who fits your needs and schedule.
If you're already taking psychiatric medication and considering switching providers, talk to your current prescriber before changing or stopping any medication — most psychiatric medications shouldn't be stopped abruptly. Anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or in acute crisis should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than wait for an outpatient appointment.
