I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), an evidenced-based therapy used in treating PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety, and other distressing life events. Hi! My name is Dawn Gutierrez. I am a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in healthcare.

My clinical experience spans across Family Health, Women's Health, Behavioral Health, Emergency and Trauma comprehensive care at the Military Hospital for over 15 years. I then specialized in gender-affirming services such as hormone therapy and ongoing care for transgender and gender-diverse individuals. While providing care for the LGBQTIA community, I was drawn to continuing my education in Mental Health Care to provide Psychiatric services to this community as well.

I approach each patient with respect for their lived experience, identity, and goals, emphasizing collaborative decision-making and individualized treatment plans. My work is grounded in trauma-informed care, clinical excellence, and a strong belief that affirming, accessible healthcare is essential to both mental and physical well-being.

I have extensive experience delivering care through both telehealth and in-clinic settings, allowing me to meet patients where they are and reduce barriers to access. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I specialize in providing therapeutic services to adults (18+) in individual, group, and couples formats. My foundational background with mental health services comes from my experience working in inpatient psychiatric settings with severe mental disorders and substance use/addiction. I am also fluently bilingual in Spanish.

I began my career in the mental health service community, first as a case manager and then as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2003. I began providing outpatient treatment to children, adolescents and adults who are facing anxiety, mood disorders, depression, relationship issues, trauma and grief. For me it has been a privilege to be able to do this kind of work.
