You've been called too much, or not enough. Maybe both, depending on the room. I work with individuals and couples in affirming, culturally responsive therapy. POC, LGBTQIA+ folks, people in ENM and nontraditional relationships, and anyone who's spent a lifetime translating themselves to be understood. Clients come in carrying grief, people-pleasing patterns, identity questions, the weight of being misread, or a relationship that's drifted, gone quiet, or is trying to find a new shape that actually fits. I'll challenge you and stay warm doing it. I don't ask you to shrink or perform to be met. This is a space to be known in full.
Welcome! I'm Dr. Ben Osevwe, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with more than 22 years of experience in mental health care, including over 4.5 years as a PMHNP. I founded Solid Foundation Psychiatry with one mission: to provide compassionate, evidence-based, and personalized psychiatric care that empowers individuals to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
I work with adolescents and adults ages 12 through 90, providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy. I believe that effective mental health treatment goes beyond prescribing medication. Every visit is an opportunity to listen, educate, collaborate, and develop a treatment plan that reflects your unique goals, values, and life circumstances.
My clinical interests include ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), insomnia, mood disorders, and other psychiatric conditions. Whether you're seeking help for the first time or have struggled with symptoms for years, I strive to create a safe, respectful, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns.
I provide both in-person psychiatric care in Pearland, Texas, serving the greater Houston area, and telepsychiatry to patients in states where I am licensed. My approach combines evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy and lifestyle recommendations.
My philosophy is simple: Every person deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and given the tools to thrive. I believe healing begins with a trusting relationship, open communication, and a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
It is a privilege to be part of your mental health journey, and I look forward to partnering with you to help you build resilience, restore hope, and achieve lasting emotional wellness.
I have lived in and outside of Mexico, Houston, Seattle, and Maine, and have felt at home in a number of ecosystems. I’ve held many titles: marine biologist, research scientist, environmental educator, elementary school teacher, farmer, barista, mom...I come from a multi-national, multi-cultural family. When I’m not therapizing, I’m outside with my family and my pets, gardening, writing, moving my body, and goofing off.
I dedicated the first part of my career to connecting with nature through science, outdoor adventure education, and horticulture, while doing my own therapeutic work. Nature has always been part of my healing and how I care for others. I graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Aquatic and Fisheries Science, and earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. I have 8 years of combined experience in eating disorder treatment at every level of care. My 5 years of private practice experience has centered on complex trauma presentations.
My approach is centered on listening and nurturing the inherent resilience within each child and family. I aim to create and foster a supportive, healing environment where children and families can explore and understand their emotions and behaviors, empowering them with the necessary tools to navigate and overcome life's challenges. I utilize an eclectic strengths-based approach through child-centered play therapy, person-centered therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
I believe that being seen, heard, and fully accepted is what fosters true connection—not just with others, but with yourself. My goal is to welcome you exactly as you are, no matter what burdens or dilemmas you’re carrying.
My hope is to empower you to embrace your unique journey so you can live, love, and fully enjoy the life ahead of you.
As an LPC with over 21 years of experience I am passionate about working with individuals, families, and adolescents navigate life's inevitable challenges. Navigating those changes creates anxiety, depression, and feeling overwhelmed. Providing individual, group, and family therapy across various settings has enabled me to understand the importance of developing healthy communication that will benefit long-term relationship skills.
I specialize in working with adults navigating trauma, chronic pain, and ADHD. These challenges can leave you feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. But you don’t have to go through it alone. I bring not only my professional expertise but also my own personal experience of healing. I know firsthand how intimidating and overwhelming the journey can be. That’s why I’m committed to walking alongside you as a compassionate guide offering tools, empathy, and a safe space for you to explore your past, present, and the future you want to create.
What I most want to impress upon you all is that I myself, have over 210 hours on the couch. I have been engaged in my own inner work since 2013.
