I've spent my career helping people navigate life's challenges. I have been a therapist for over fourteen years. I've worked with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups, and I genuinely enjoy my work. I know that life can be difficult, and there can be times when you feel alone, without anyone who understands you or the situation you are facing. That is why I became a therapist to help those who feel stuck and misunderstood. I will never make you feel like just a number. My approach is client-centered and solution-focused. Taryn Hodison's treatment approach is eclectic in nature but she mainly uses psychodynamic therapy in her practice. Clients benefit from her services if they are ready to examine and develop insight into how past experiences impact their present lives. Clients will be validated and gently challenged in therapy to get through the mental blocks that keep them stuck.

I am deeply committed to helping individuals discover meaning and purpose in their lives. With more than four decades of experience as a counselor, I specialize in guiding clients through recovery from addictions, anxiety disorders, and PTSD.

As an Associate Professor in the Online Department of Community Care and Counseling within the School of Behavioral Sciences at Liberty University, I facilitate courses designed to help students and clients rediscover their zest for life and cultivate lasting emotional well-being.

In my private practice, I work extensively with couples, equipping them with practical tools and proven techniques to restore joy, strengthen relational intimacy, and build fulfilling, resilient relationships.

I live in Lynchburg, Virginia, where I remain actively engaged in my community. My areas of specialization include trauma and complex trauma, anxiety, depression, child abuse recovery, and relational intimacy. I am also the author of Joy on the Same Page (2023), which outlines my Relational Intimacy approach.

For 30 years, I've worked inside schools alongside children and adolescents — as a social worker, an advocate, and someone who genuinely understands how young people think, struggle, and grow. I know what anxiety looks like in a middle schooler. I know how ADHD shows up in a classroom. And I know that the kids and families who need support deserve to get it without spending years trying to find relief.

I'm a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker — a credential I earned in November 2025, after raising two kids of my own while completing every requirement along the way. It took longer than I planned. I wouldn't change it. That experience shapes how I show up for every client.

I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Kansas and work as both a school social worker and a therapist, giving me a perspective on young people and families that's grounded in their real, daily lives.

I belive that seeking help takes courage, and my goal is to create a safe, judgement-free space where you feel heard and supported from the very first visit. I earned my MSN from Northern Kentucky University, and I bring over six years of psychiatric experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I currently hold inpatient privileges at three hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which keeps me connected to full spectrum of mental health care. I work with patients ages 5 and up treating a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and more.
