First let me say I went into therapy after a lot of my own problems in life and I wanted to understand why I struggled so much. Currently I specialize in relationship counseling, PTSD, anxiety, and grief/loss. Everyone's mind is shaped by their experiences, environment, personality, and a variety of other factors. I recently retired from the VA after 17 years of working with veterans and their struggles. There rest of the time I was in community care working with individuals and families. I understand that it can be hard to ask for help but the most resilient people I know have been the ones that want to keep discovering what is underneath the surface. It's not easy to figure it out yourself. That's why I do what I do! I love to help people unlock the mysteries in their heads. I would welcome the opportunity to get to know you if you think we would be a good fit. I DO NOT JUDGE..that is not my job nor my nature. My job is to uplift and assist you in finding your way to an improved quality of life.
I believe that everyone has the ability to grow into the person that they want to be. I want to help people turn obstacles into opportunities, weaknesses into strengths, and discouragement into hope. I make every effort to be dependable, understanding, and empathetic. I also am upfront, honest, and kind. You can expect that we will talk in real world terms, not in psychological terms. We will find practical solutions, rather than reflect on "how that made you feel."
I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, where we identify the thoughts and behaviors that lead to negative feelings and emotions. I find that this practical approach is often the best approach to find progress quickly. I also practice Narrative Therapy to address trauma and difficult times. This approach addresses painful memories and experiences to reorient my client to a better understanding of the past and to find healing. I will attempt to work with anyone for almost any issue. I specialize in assisting with men's issues, communication issues, conflict resolution, parenting issues, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, grief, career counseling, and substance abuse issues.
I have worked in private practice for over 9 years. Prior to that, I worked in community-based services where I assisted families to stay together and juveniles to work through their legal issues. I have worked in substance abuse services. I also have experiences working with intellectual disabilities.
I hold a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling and hold a Licensed Mental Health Counselor's license in Florida and Indiana.

If you're carrying something that's hard to put into words — trauma, grief, chronic stress, infertility, or the particular weight that comes from serving others— you don't have to figure out how to start the conversation. Whether you are struggling in high school, college, or the world of adulting, I'll help with that. I came back to therapy because I noticed a high number of individuals in need but not enough therapists who are able to navigate cultural diversity in therapy.
I am a Guyanese-born American-raised world traveler who has experienced life and appreciates diversity in all aspects. I’ve been working in the mental health field since earning my Masters of Science in Social Work degree with a specialization in Alcohol and Drug Counseling from the University of Louisville in 2011. Over the years, I’ve worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting adults through challenges with mental health and substance use. Those experiences have given me the privilege of walking alongside people in some of the hardest and most transformative moments of their lives.
As a certified EMDR psychotherapist and social worker, I believe prioritizing mental health is key to happiness and stability. Seeking help can be one of the hardest parts, so congratulations on taking that first step! I’ve been practicing for 15 years as a social worker, but in the last decade, I have shifted my main focus to clients aged 18 and up who are struggling with anxiety and depression.
