I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with several years of experience and I specialize in treating young adults, adults, and seniors. My clinical background has afforded me the fulfilling opportunity to support the mental wellness of individuals from all backgrounds. I believe in evidence-based treatment- I specialize in interventional modalities, and I now conduct Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for depression in our Charlotte office.
Welcome! My name is Diana Hunter-Eldridge. I've been working in the mental health field for 10+years and have a master's in nursing. I'm here to work alongside you to have a better quality of life. Whether you struggle with depression, anxiety, bipolar or ADHD you don't have to go through this journey alone.
I'm Lucy Maina, a Board Certified, Licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Therapeutic Alliance Behavioral Health. I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care and psychotherapy for people of all ages — children, adolescents, and adults — in a safe, nonjudgmental space where your experience is always validated.
I specialize in treating anxiety, ADHD, depression, chronic fatigue, irritability, and emotional numbness, including the unique stress that comes with caregiving. I also have experience supporting neurodiverse individuals and those living with autism spectrum disorder or schizophrenia, offering sensory-considerate evaluations, communication accommodations, and relapse prevention planning tailored to your needs.
I earned my BSN from Duke University in 2014, my Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree from Gonzaga University in 2017, and my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2020. I also completed a Plant-Based Nutrition certification through Cornell University. My background spans both community and mental health care, including experience at a large community health center in Washington, DC, where I worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances. My foundation in family medicine has given me extensive experience caring for people with co-occurring mental health and complex medical conditions. I also have significant experience supporting individuals who have experienced trauma and strive to provide compassionate, whole-person care that meets each patient's unique needs.
I feel very honored for the opportunity to care for others. I understand that mental and physical health are connected and are shaped by our past. I believe that psychiatric treatment works.
After working 15+ years as an RN I am so excited to be making a difference as a provider of mental healthcare. Working from home allows me to offer better calendar flexibility to accommodate different schedules and to take care of my aging dogs at home!
I am compassionate and empathetic and here to help you reach your goals and become the best version of yourself.
During my training I worked primarily in community behavioral health. It is my goal to beneficially serve the community and provide support to those who need it while hoping to reduce barriers and stigmas that prevent people from getting the care they really need and deserve. Access is for everyone and I want to be a beacon of that message.
I have a certificate in Spanish for Healthcare Providers and as soon as I become a little more fluent I will be able to extend my services, accurately, into a second language.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Huntersville
Finding the right psychiatrist in Huntersville, NC starts with understanding what kind of care you need. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medication, and in some cases provide talk therapy. Psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) can also prescribe and manage medication and are another option available through Headway. If you're looking for support with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or medication management, a psychiatrist or PMHNP may be the right fit.
Huntersville is home to a range of psychiatric providers, but availability can vary — especially for in-person appointments. Consider what matters most to you, whether that's a provider who specializes in a specific condition, offers virtual sessions, or practices near your neighborhood in Birkdale, Lake Norman, or the surrounding Cornelius and Davidson areas. Reading a provider's bio can help you understand their approach and decide if they're a good match before you book.
Psychiatry sessions can be expensive without insurance. Using your in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to lower your out-of-pocket costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs upfront, and your out-of-pocket cost may be as low as $0 per session. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a psychiatrist who is both the right clinical fit and covered by your plan.
