Cameron-K Garrett, PMHCNS-BC is a highly experienced provider in Psychiatric Medication Evaluation and Management with more than two decades of practice in diverse patient populations and clinical settings. She provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and medication management for individual's navigating a wide range of mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use thought disorders, andadjustment challenges. Cameron’s approach is integrative and deeply collaborative—she values building strong therapeutic relationships where patients feel supported, understood, and empowered.

I am a psychiatrist trained in adult psychiatry, though I do have some experience working in adolescent and geriatric psychiatry as well. I try to integrate western medicine approaches to care with more holistic approaches, which often includes providing psychotherapy, medications, and lifestyle modification. I have specific interest in different psychotherapy modalities, and often incorporate some aspects of psychotherapy in my visits with clients even if this is not the primary focus. In my work, I like to focus on your strengths, goals, and values as the main components of our treatment plan. I try to bring a curious, open-minded, and compassionate energy to my work.

I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner who works from the belief that people are not broken—and that many of the struggles we call “mental illness” make sense when we look at trauma, context, and lived experience. I’m especially attuned to the ways mental health systems, stigma, and labels can unintentionally cause harm, and I aim to practice in a way that feels respectful, collaborative, and deeply human.

My approach is unconventional and trauma-informed, influenced by perspectives like those of Gabor Maté, which emphasize compassion, curiosity, and understanding symptoms as meaningful responses rather than defects. I do not believe in rushing to pathologize the human experience. As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP), I provide evidence-based medication management to clients seeking care. Since becoming a PMHNP, I have worked in different settings such as community health and women’s health. I have a true passion for working with the LGBTQAI and BIPOC communities.
