First and foremost, I enjoy meeting people, getting to know the way they think, making people comfortable, and then seeing how I can help or support. I enjoy seeing people grow through their challenges and find progress in their goals. I've spent much of my career working in psychiatric hospitals managing crisis, doing family and adolescent counseling, and have built several addiction counseling programs. I and am currently working as the Clinical Director for an addiction medical clinic, but looking at building up my private practice for more independence. I'm always up to learning something new as I meet new people, and am looking forward to seeing how I can help.
I am your partner in whole-person healing, and I am now accepting new patients. With nearly two decades of diverse nursing experience, my background spans psychiatry, oncology, palliative care, intensive care, hospice, and home health. This journey has given me a deep understanding of both physical and emotional health challenges.
I am known for building genuine connections with patients across all age groups. My approach is rooted in the belief that mental health is inseparable from physical well-being. I often view mental health symptoms not as disorders, but as signals of deeper imbalances—and I treat them with compassion and curiosity.
I have recently become licensed as an LCSW, however, I have over 20+ years in SUD and addictive behaviors as a person in long term recovery. I have worked in the treatment/behavioral health industry for over 15 years. I have been extensively immersed in DBT while working at my previous employer and have worked with those with dual diagnoses (SUD/mental health). I have been trained in all of the therapeutic approaches in my profile while working as a CSW prior to gaining full licensure.
I’m Tae Colbert, Ed.S., MA, LCMHC, NCSP. (She/Her)
Welcome!
Navigating life’s systems, expectations, and social structures can often force us to camouflage who we are just to survive. One of the most common ways we do this is through masking: suppressing our natural responses, hiding distress, or mimicking social expectations to blend in. If you are feeling burnt out, anxious, depressed, lost, overwhelmed, or disconnected from your true self after years of holding up these barriers, I am here to help you find a path toward a more authentic and manageable way of living.
Who I Am & My Background
I bridge the gap between comprehensive psychological evaluations and direct clinical support. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology from the University of the Pacific. As both a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), I bring a deep, holistic understanding of both clinical mental health and neurodevelopmental/educational systems.
Welcome. I believe every person has a unique story, strengths, and capacity for growth. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and compassionate space where children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families can feel understood and empowered. I specialize in working with individuals and families navigating ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental differences, emotional regulation challenges, relationship concerns, parenting struggles, and life transitions. I take a strengths-based and collaborative approach, helping clients better understand themselves and build meaningful connections.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a background in military service and a passion for helping teens and adults work through anxiety, trauma, and life stress. I bring both clinical training and real-world experience into the therapy room to create a space that feels supportive and effective. I use evidence-based approaches like Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help clients find relief and move forward. My goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and capable of creating meaningful change.
Since I was 18, I have been drawn to helping people through hard moments, first as an ICU nurse, then as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Along the way I trained in ketamine therapy, addiction medicine, and chronic pain management, and spent nine years as an APRN across family medicine, inpatient psychiatry, and hospice care. I have supported adults managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and complex medication needs, and I know how overwhelming it can feel to ask for help. I bring both deep clinical experience and a genuinely open mind to every session, and I believe your care should be as unique as you are. I would love to get to know your story
