Hello, I’m Dr Wiesner. I have a PhD in counseling. I was a professor teaching graduate students for seven years. During this time I was the director of a ten room counseling clinic at the university. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor for those new to the field, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor.
I strive to be respectful and care about clients achieving their goals as quickly as possible. I taught diagnoses nine semesters at the university. I have published several research papers in peer reviewed journals and have made 7 presentations at the state and national level. I taught research methods and statistics but what really matters to me aren’t my degrees etc..but wanting you to live a zest filled life.
I have a degree in engineering and a MBA but left engineering to focus on assisting clients find and achieve goals that are important to them. Engineering trained me to think logically and to problem solve with an emphasis on practical issues and being practical. Practical and long lasting results is my focus.
I’m a member of Mensa and have been in the American Counseling Association and the Texas Counseling Association. While I have treated a long list of issues my main focus has been working with couples, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and past trauma.
If you choose me I would feel honored to help as best I can. I work with age ranges from six year olds to seniors. I like to say I want difficult and complex cases but you are not a case.
Helping you stop taking rejection personally and feel more secure in who you are. Uncover the wound, recover yourself.
You didn’t just feel rejected, you started questioning yourself. Over time, that can show up as overthinking, avoiding what feels overwhelming, or struggling to feel confident in who you are and how you show up in your relationships and everyday life. It's time to reclaim your voice and identity after experiencing rejection or unhealthy relationship dynamics.
I earned my Master's in Counseling and have 4 years of experience supporting teenagers, men, and women navigating challenges like rejection, avoidance, trauma, and identity struggles (not to be confused with gender identity). We’ll explore the patterns behind your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so you can better understand why you respond the way you do and begin to respond differently.
Clients often tell me they appreciate how I balance compassion with practical strategies. Together, we’ll focus on bridging the gap between where you are now and where you want to be, whether that’s feeling more confident socially, healing from old wounds, or reconnecting with your authentic identity.
Meet Dr. Kwame Frimpong, MD
Psychiatrist | Addiction Specialist | Physician Leader
With over a decade of medical experience, I bring a uniquely broad and deep understanding of both mental and physical health.
- Trained in Ghana across multiple specialties including surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, and women’s health
- Psychiatry Residency at Harlem Hospital Center (affiliated with Columbia University, New York City)
- Chief Resident, leading clinical teams and mentoring physicians
- Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (top program in Texas)
- Current Addiction Director at John Peter Smith (JPS) Hospital in Fort Worth
I work at the frontlines of psychiatry and addiction care—treating complex cases daily, teaching physicians, and delivering results-driven, compassionate care.
Patients describe me as calm, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in their success.
I believe healing begins when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I provide a compassionate, trauma-informed approach that combines evidence-based therapy with a genuine, collaborative relationship.
I work with teens, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, low self-esteem, stress, and family conflict. I also enjoy helping clients overcome people-pleasing, establish healthy boundaries, improve communication, and process difficult life experiences that continue to impact the present.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 19 years working in public education, helping children, teens, and families navigate emotional challenges, strengthen communication, build resilience, and develop practical coping skills. That experience continues to shape my approach by meeting clients where they are and focusing on their unique strengths.
