My name is Mark Cox. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I like how my Grandchildren think of my work; "he helps people". I have been trying to do just that in this field for the past 22 years and in Christian ministry for 16 years before that. I like to work with Couples to find ways to enrich their relationship and with individuals to help them navigate difficult seasons of their life they might be experiencing. Life asks all of us to carry difficult things. I believe healing isn't measured by the absence of hardship but by our growing ability to carry it. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a PhD in Mental Health Counseling, I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate chronic illness, evolving medical needs, the relational impact of major medical challenges, and all of the other parts of life because no one lives just to be a patient. I come to this specialty with both years of experience as a therapist supporting specific illnesses like cystic fibrosis, diabetes, and cancer as well as lifelong experience as a sibling to a brother with chronic illness. My role is to help you better understand what you're carrying, strengthen what helps sustain you, and build a life that feels meaningful even when life doesn't become easier. If you are navigating illness, its impact on your relationships, or simply a life that feels
heavier than it should, I would be glad to hear your story and to help you carry it.
I graduated in 2022 from Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky with a Master of Education in Counseling. I interned for a year at Serenity Counseling in Gallatin, Tennessee. I learned so much from this internship; not only how to work with my clients, but I learned so much about myself and why I chose this field to work in. After graduation from LWC, I worked under Carlin Giles, LPC-MHSP where I earned the hours required towards licensure in 2 1/2 years. I now have my own practice practice in Hendersonville, TN.
I am an LCSW with a Master's of Social Work degree and have been in field over 12 years.
You may feel overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, past experiences, or relationship conflict that still affect how you show up in daily life and relationships. Many people reach out for therapy when trauma, depression, grief, or substance use begins to feel too heavy to manage alone. You may feel stuck in patterns of anger, conflict, or emotional pain and want a safe place to talk honestly about what’s going on. Therapy can be a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and begin finding healthier ways to cope and move forward. I believe therapy works best when clients feel safe, understood, and respected.
