Hello, I’m happy to meet you and begin working with you as a therapist who specializes in trauma. The following information includes my professional background, the therapeutic services I provide, and the rights and responsibilities that will guide our work together. Please feel free to ask me any questions that you have.
My Education and Experience: I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminology, a master’s degree in Sociology with a clinical emphasis, a doctoral degree in Applied Sociology with a clinical specialization, and I’m a Certified Clinical Sociologist through the Association of Applied and Clinical Sociology. I completed a master’s degree in clinical social work (MSW) with a specialization in Trauma and Interpersonal Violence in 2022 and am a fully licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I earned my previous degrees in Kentucky from Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville. I completed my MSW through Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts. My past clinical work has focused on family preservation and child welfare through in-home crisis intervention, family reunification services, parenting education and independent living skills, supervised visitation for children residing in foster care, and custodial mediation and visitation for co-parenting separated or divorced couples. I’ve also worked for the states of Kentucky and Virginia as a child welfare analyst, consultant, and educator. Additional work has included forensic interviewing, case management support for child advocacy centers, and expert testimony in court cases involving child maltreatment and domestic violence as a Qualified Mental Health Professional in (QMHP) Virginia and Kentucky.
My name is Raina and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and I have been practicing for 13 years.
Seeking therapy is a big step and I look forward to supporting you on this journey!
I enjoy working with teens (13 and up) , young adults, college students and adults and helping them navigate self- esteem and confidence building, personal growth, life stressors/ transitions, anxiety & overwhelm, coping skills and emotional regulation, school/ academic stress, stress and burnout, and relationships.
Congrats on taking the first step in your mental health journey! My name is Shaquana and I believe mental health is just as important as your regular doctor appointments. Bringing Mental Health Awareness to others is a passion of mine because I understand first-hand the therapy process can be scary. My ideal client is a person who is ready to embark on their wellness journey, someone who may be scared of the process, yet willing to begin. I am here to encourage individuals to open up to their truths, achieve happiness within themselves, and to feel and be great!
I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span across multiple areas including self-esteem, anger/anger management, depression, anxiety, stress management, relationship issues and more.
This mental health journey can be intimidating but you don't have to take this journey alone. The stigma surrounding mental health can also make it difficult to start therapy, and I am here to let you know that in the safe space of therapy the stigma does not exist. If you are ready to start your journey or you are unsure feel free to contact me today!
I’m a licensed therapist who specializes in working with anxious overthinkers, people-pleasers, perfectionists, and caregivers who are exhausted from trying to hold everything together. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who look “high-functioning” on the outside but feel overwhelmed, self-critical, or emotionally drained on the inside.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a school counselor, which deeply shaped how I approach mental health, relationships, and family systems. I also bring lived experience as a parent into my work, especially when supporting clients who are navigating stress, burnout, and the emotional demands of raising children.
