I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received my Master of Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2007. Prior starting private practice 2017, I worked as a therapist at Family and Children's Service of Ithaca and at Duke University’s Student Counseling Center (CAPS).
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, with a Masters degree in Counseling Education, who is happy to join you on your mental health wellness journey! The work we do will involve thoughtfully taking a look at your life, empowering you based on your strengths, and facing challenges with the right supports in place. We will compassionately see your potential to heal and thrive throughout the course of our therapeutic conversations.
Anxiety and depression can make everyday life feel exhausting — and finding the right support shouldn't add to that. I'm a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner practicing via telehealth across New York State, and I genuinely love what I do. My style is collaborative: I'm not here to hand you a prescription and send you on your way. I want to understand your full picture — your history, your goals, what you've tried before — and build a plan that actually fits your life. Care works best when it feels like a partnership, and that's exactly what I aim for. There's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to mental health, and I'll never treat it that way. If you're ready to take the next step — or even just curious about what that might look like — I'd love to connect.
My name is Jane Davis, LMHC, licensed in mental health counseling, and I have online appointments throughout the state of NY.
I have a Masters in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling from New York University. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I attained a Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2 subjects--Modern Thought & Literature; and Humanities--and was a literature professor. That experience established my dedication to "helping people help themselves" through expanding their awareness in ways that lead to personal growth. I am originally from NJ, currently live in NY, and have lived in such places as Park Slope, Brooklyn; California; and the Midwest.
The focus of my therapy includes depression, anxiety, trauma-including racialized trauma-as well as borderline personality disorder and bipolar disorder.
My clientele consists of people from a wide spectrum of backgrounds and experiences. I typically work with adults, i.e., late teens-e.g., 18 or 19-through seniors. My therapeutic environment emphasizes unconditional positive regard, collaboration, and directness needed to establish therapeutic rapport and thus a therapeutic alliance
Assata means "She who struggles" and my purpose is to serve as well as to heal. I am fully licensed, with my diagnostic privilege, in New York with 7+ years of professional work experience. I have experience working with families, individuals, couples, and children. I received my Masters of Science at LIU Brooklyn in 2017 and continued to obtain my full license in Mental Health Counseling. I cover but not limited to: Coping Skills, Depression, Family Conflict, Infidelity, Life Coaching, Marital and Premarital, Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Stress. I have my Private Practice and we are honored to serve you while walking in purpose. We have therapists ready to assist and serve.
This is my first career; it has always been my dream to help people. I never envisioned doing anything else in life. I’ve worked in a myriad of settings, ranging from satellite clinics based on early educational settings to social adult daycares (and everything else in between, including hospitals and intensive day treatment). I have completed training to be able to work in these settings, including courses on TF-CBT, motivational interviewing, and mental health first aid.
