After more than 20 years of working with children and families in the school system, I now provide virtual therapy to reach and support more people navigating anxiety, ADHD, depression, grief, stress management challenges, low self-esteem, life transitions, and relationship difficulties. Many of my clients struggle with emotional regulation, feeling overwhelmed, attention and focus concerns, family conflict, academic stress, or feeling stuck in patterns that impact daily life. Family dynamics and personal relationships are often at the heart of these challenges. My approach is creative, engaging, and intentionally different from traditional talk therapy. I incorporate music, humor, interactive exercises, and experiential techniques to help reduce anxiety, build coping skills, and make it easier to process difficult emotions in a supportive, welcoming space.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience helping people, like you, to create meaningful change. I enjoy providing counseling to individuals, couples, and families. Some of my clients have reported feeling overwhelmed, stressed, sad, anxious, or stuck. I spent 14 years in long term and acute care inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings and 11 years in neurological rehabilitation. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana and master’s degree from LSU.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Mental Health Therapist in Louisiana
Searching for therapists in Louisiana starts with knowing what kind of support fits your needs. Across urban and rural parts of the state, available therapists and specialties can vary, so it helps to look for someone whose training matches what you want to address. You may be looking for support with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions. As you compare therapists, review their listed specialties, therapy style, and experience with approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-informed care.
Location and format also matter when choosing a Louisiana therapist. If you live in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, or a smaller community, your options may look different based on local availability. Some people prefer in-person sessions, while others choose virtual appointments for easier scheduling. You can also narrow your search by appointment times, whether a therapist is accepting new clients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading therapist bios can help you understand how they describe their approach, what a first session may involve, and whether their communication style feels like a good fit.
The cost of therapy in Louisiana varies, and using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find Louisiana therapists who take insurance, see estimated out-of-pocket costs before booking, and compare available appointments in one place. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, and you can confirm your coverage for your location and plan before your first session. From there, you can browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
