My main focus has been anxiety disorders, but I also work with those experiencing symptoms of depression, stress, family issues/concerns, and relationship problems.
I help women and mothers struggling depression , anxiety , postpartum , stress, burn out, being overwhelmed, establishing boundaries and time managements. I assist women with regaining control over their lives by learning strategies to cope with the demands of life life and parenting that contribute to high levels of stress, depression , anxiety and burn out. I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 15 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, & depression. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage! I am here to support you in that process.
I explore a patient's need for external validation and identify old, negative motivators used to inspire achievement-based goals. I teach self-care and self-regulating practices while modeling healthy attunement. Together, we explore conflict-avoidant behaviors and healthy dependency. Being a highly sensitive person is not a weakness but an empathic strength. I explore the guilt, shame, and fear that cause "analysis paralysis." I analyze unhealthy habits and teach clients to build trust and reconnect with a traumatic body that no longer trusts. You are the expert and I am your guide.
I am a Mental Health Counselor, licensed in NY, MA, NJ, NH, RI, KS, UT, WI, IN, AR, and OR, with over 20 years experience in the counseling field. I have had experience assisting clients with a wide range of concerns, such as, parenting issues, family/personal relationships, grief/loss, depression, anxiety, and anger management.
In my experience, the best therapy comes from helping others. Even when I’m feeling down, I make it a point to support those around me and listen to their concerns. My journey with therapy began when my father passed away when I was 10 years old. At the time, I was confused and my mother encouraged me to express my feelings to a therapist. That period was a blur, as I struggled to articulate my emotions. Growing up in a family that valued privacy and relied on prayer for solace, I often felt something was missing.
During my freshman year of college, I enrolled in my first psychology course. The passion of my professor inspired me to consider switching my major to psychology. At that time, I was dealing with depression, anxiety, and unresolved trauma. I decided that if I wanted to become a counselor, I should first address my own issues through therapy.
This decision allowed me to learn coping skills and gain firsthand experience of the counseling process. I realized that professional training and studies would equip me with the knowledge and confidence needed to handle situations involving intense emotions. As I continued my education, I aspired to be a “super therapist” or, as I jokingly called it, “The Beyoncé of therapists,” eager to help everyone. While I understood that was unrealistic, I chose to focus on the populations that interested me the most, including individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and those within the LGBTQ+ community.
