I began my career working with children and quickly expanded my expertise to include adults and couples. Throughout my 26 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have seen the incredible power of the human spirit to overcome trauma and unexpected life struggles. Watching my clients transition from "surviving" to "thriving" remains the most inspiring part of my work.
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I earned my Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University and have experience supporting individuals through a wide range of personal and emotional challenges. Many of the people I work with want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that may no longer be serving them. I enjoy helping clients explore the “why” behind their thoughts, behaviors, and experiences so they can create meaningful change and build lives that feel more authentic and fulfilling.
I have more than 30 years of experience in the behavioral health field and have been in private practice since 2003. I work with adults, older adults, adolescents, individuals, and families who are navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, grief, stress, relationship challenges, ADHD, anger, impulse control, substance use concerns, cultural or ethnic issues, and major life transitions. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology in Cuba in 1982 and later completed my Master’s degree at Florida International University in 1998. My background has shaped a warm, culturally sensitive, and practical approach to therapy.
I understand that reaching out for support can feel difficult at first. My goal is to help clients feel safe, respected, and supported as they take that courageous first step toward feeling better and becoming a healthier version of themselves.
Let's work together and help you find your direction. My counseling style is highly consultative and coaching-like. It is typically non-directive, as I believe each client pilot's their own ship, but when the situation warrants, there is plenty of idea sharing and strategizing as well.
I have been practicing for 21 years and work with clients of all ages and various backgrounds. I believe that with a strong therapeutic alliance, we can mutually come together and help you find a path forward that suits you.
With over 30 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families, I specialize in supporting people navigating LGBTQ+ identity, relationships, and the coming out process. Whether you're stepping into your identity for the first time, rebuilding after a difficult transition, or managing the stress and relationship challenges that come with trying to balance everything, you deserve a therapist who truly gets it. I bring warmth, directness, and a genuine investment in helping you feel more like yourself.
