Hi, I’m Alvis — a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Gainesville, FL.
Before counseling, I spent years in the health and fitness industry in New York City, helping clients who felt stuck or overmatched in their goals. I later trained in spiritual wellness at St. Andrew’s Church here in Gainesville. Both experiences taught me the same lesson: real growth means working with mind, body, and spirit together. It brings me immense joy to see my clients go from stuck to flourishing.
I work with adults, couples, families, adolescents, and college students.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, substance abuse, codependency, family and couples counseling, and life transitions.
I bring a wealth of maturity and experience to a new career as an art therapist and counselor. I am a Registered Art Therapist and Clinical Mental Health Counselor and hold a dual-concentration Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health & Art Therapy from PennWestern University.
My Specialties & Areas of Support:
- Perinatal & Maternal Mental Health: Navigating the profound transitions of pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood.
- Complex Trauma Treatment: Safely processing deep-seated wounds to reclaim your present life. Certified in Tholage Neuropsychotherapy.
- Adult Children of Dysfunctional Families: Finding recovery, setting boundaries, and breaking old patterns.
- Anxiety & Depression: Developing coping strategies and finding a path back to hope.
- Parenting for All Ages: I am certified in early childhood parent education, and a certified lactation consultant. I have worked with parents for 25 years, from pregnancy to tweens, teens and parenting young adults.
- Hobbies: Drawing, painting, fiber arts, guitar, singing.
I believe therapy is not about “fixing” you-It’s about empowering you. Together, we will work to uncover your strengths, clarify your goals, and build skills that support meaningful, lasting change. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply seeking personal growth, I’m here to walk alongside you in this therapeutic process.
I look forward to connecting with you.
