If you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, struggling with depression, carrying the weight of past trauma, or finding yourself stuck in relationship patterns that no longer serve you, you're not alone. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or unsure how to move forward. Others are navigating grief, family challenges, relationship concerns, or major life transitions that leave them feeling disconnected from themselves.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I provide a warm, supportive space where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment. My goal is to help you better understand what's contributing to your current struggles, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that support healing, confidence, and meaningful change.
I am an honest and compassionate therapist with a direct approach to therapy. I believe therapy works best when communication is open, clear, and collaborative. I encourage curiosity, openness, and personal growth, and I aim to empower clients to take an active role in their healing and decision-making process.
I have been practicing as a therapist for 5 years, and specialize in working with mood disorders, attachment trauma, anxiety, addictions, kink, poly/ENM, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges. I am highly collaborative with my clients, and often weave humor and sarcasm into my sessions. Feedback is important to me - the relationship between therapist and client is sacred and one of the biggest predictors of change!
My core belief is simple: I believe in you and your ability to become the healthiest, most fulfilled version of yourself. Life often makes it hard to see that potential, let alone know how to get there. My role is to be your guide and ally on that journey.
My path to becoming a clinician has been intentional. Beyond my master's degree in counseling and advanced post-master's training, my work in non-profit and community mental health has given me a breadth of experience with people from all walks of life. This doesn't mean "I've seen it all," but it does mean that I'm prepared to meet you where you are, without judgment. No matter what you're going through, if you are ready to take a step, so am I.
Look, nothing gets better if we don't find a way to face it safely. That's why therapy takes courage. It took courage just to get this far, and you already deserve credit for that. When you're ready for that first, brave step of reaching out, I'll be here, ready to loan you some of my hope until you can hold it for yourself.
Hello there!
My name is Marisa and I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 6 years of experience providing mental health services to individuals from widely diverse backgrounds, with varying symptoms and diagnoses. Throughout the past couple of years, I have been predominately working with women (adults and teens) who experience anxiety, trauma/PTSD, mood disorders, and interpersonal and intrapersonal challenges. While many of the clients I support have experienced trauma, particularly in some form of abuse, I am equipped to work with clients with a wide range of additional concerns, as well.
A Florida and Polk County native, Mirtha is a graduate of Frostproof High School. She is board certified as both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and an Autonomous Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. She earned a Bachelor's of Nursing from Polk State and a Master's of Nursing from USF. In 2023 Mirtha earned a Post Master's Certification in Psychiatry from Florida Atlantic University. However, her journey as a mental health provider began in 2020 when she became certified through the Academy of Christian Counseling, as a mental health coach. Then in January of 2025 she became an active member of the Order of Saint Luke (OSL) a healing ministry.
Mirtha has nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare. Her passion is caring for individuals struggling with mental health issues. She has been volunteering with the youth in her community for over 7 years and also has experience working in a domestic violence shelter with victims of trauma.
I became a mental health provider because I believe everyone deserves to be heard.
My practice is built on a level of clinical depth that sets my care apart: my background includes extensive hands-on experience in high-acuity inpatient psychiatric units, comprehensive outpatient clinics, and active service as a Mental Health Nurse in the U.S. Air Force.
At Mental Clarity Psychiatry, I take an integrative, unhurried approach to whole-person care, focusing on how your physical health, lifestyle, and unique life story impact your mind. My goal is to build a partnership based on true trust rather than just managing symptoms, combining clinical expertise with personalized guidance to help you find a sustainable path back to yourself.
