Welcome! I’m Haruna Maliani, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). My passion for mental healthcare is rooted in a deep respect for human resilience and a belief that everyone deserves compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to their unique journey.
With an extensive background in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings, I specialize in diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of mental health conditions—including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD/trauma, and stress management. I work primarily with adults and young adults from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
I view mental wellness through a holistic lens: your biology, lifestyle, relationships, and environment all play a role in your overall well-being. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard and empowered to take an active role in your healing process.
Hi There! I am proud to be a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner! I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with my bachelor’s degree and Regis College with my master’s degree. I'm excited to provide you with the individualized care you deserve. Most of all, my goal is to honor your individuality and lifestyle when creating a plan of care. Your goals are what matters- it's your life! Let's help you get to where you want to be!
With over 15 years of nursing experience, my passion for psychiatry began early in my nursing career as I witnessed patients transform their lives through healing, self-discovery, and resilience. It is profoundly humbling meeting someone at their lowest point and having the privilege of walking alongside them as they do the work to become their best selves.
I work with adults ages 18 to 60 from all walks of life, with a special focus on individuals who are often overlooked, misunderstood, or silently struggling. Many of the people I work with appear “put together” on the outside—successful, dependable, and strong—while internally feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or barely holding it together.
I was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, to immigrant parents from Haiti, and my cultural background plays an important role in who I am as a provider. Being deeply connected to both Haitian and American cultures has given me a broad perspective and a deep appreciation for cultural identity, family systems, and the shared human experience. At the core, struggle looks very similar across cultures—and everyone deserves care that is respectful, culturally responsive, and compassionate.
Now accepting patients in Massachusetts! Offering in office visits on the fourth Monday of each month in Westford, MA from 8:00 until 11:30 and virtual visits throughout the week.
I have been in healthcare for over 20 years and enjoy partnering with patients . As a gay man, I understand the comfort that comes with working with someone from the community.
Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or not like yourself lately? You don’t have to figure it out alone. I’m a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Ivy League trained with experience in outpatient, acute stabilization and consult-liaison psychiatry. I work with adults and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, mood changes, and other mental health challenges that come with stress, illness, or life transitions.
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings, providing comprehensive mental health care across diverse populations. My background includes extensive work in behavioral health emergency settings, partial hospitalizations, IOP, recovery care, community psychiatric care. I also have experience supporting dually diagnosed patients with co-occurring medical conditions, giving me a broad perspective on the complex interplay between mental and physical health.
I earned my PMHNP degree from Post University and hold PMHNP licensure in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to evidence-based care, while continuously seeking opportunities for professional development and growth in the mental health field.
For ten years, I have worked alongside children with autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and OCD. My career in pediatric nursing shaped how I see each young person I work with: as a whole child in the context of their family, their school, and their community. Now I am building my psychiatric practice around the children who deserve specialized care from someone who genuinely understands them. I work with children, adolescents, and young adults. I take the time needed to get it right, because every child's situation is different.
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a background in pharmacy, giving me a well-rounded perspective on mental health care. Find the right psychiatrist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Mattapoisett
Finding psychiatrists in Mattapoisett starts with knowing which type of mental health care fits your needs. Psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication, while therapists focus on talk therapy. Psychiatric care may include medication management, follow-up visits, and support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Some people start with a therapist, some start with a prescriber, and some work with both.
Mattapoisett is a smaller community, so local in-person psychiatry options may be more limited than in larger Massachusetts cities. Virtual appointments can expand your search while still helping you find care that fits your schedule. Psychiatric medication management visits are often shorter and less frequent than therapy sessions, though some psychiatrists also offer therapy. As you compare options, review each psychiatrist’s profile for availability, listed specialties, appointment format, and whether they offer a free phone consultation.
Psychiatric care in Mattapoisett can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before booking. Headway helps you find psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners who are accepting new patients and may match your plan. You can enter your insurance details, see estimated costs upfront, read profiles, and book directly when you’re ready.
If you're already taking psychiatric medication and considering switching providers, talk to your current prescriber before changing or stopping any medication — most psychiatric medications shouldn't be stopped abruptly. Anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or in acute crisis should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than wait for an outpatient appointment.
