Great to meet you!

I first started as a psychologist in Cuba and worked specifically with children and adults predominantly family dysfunctions and behavioral problems. I then came to the U.S. and worked as a case manager, which gave me a more hands-on experience in the field. This opportunity inspired a more rounded approach to the way I can help clients and their families.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I now work as a counselor with a more wide-spread clientele. Thanks to this background, I’ve had experience working with all age groups and different cultures, as well as different sexual orientations. I prefer to adjust my therapeutic methods to my client’s needs, but I mostly practice psychoeducation, person-centered, and CBT.

What you can expect from our first session

I have been working in the mental health field for more than 16 years and I think there has been an awakening regarding mental health issues in the past few years. Awareness is key in the process of recovery. I have seen the growth in clients when they come to therapy eager to better themselves. I make my sessions client oriented; I always tell my clients that the therapy session is only one part of the healing process; the effort has to come from within.
