My name is Whitney Delphos, and I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York with a PhD in mental health counseling. My approach to counseling is based on the idea that people need to be intrinsically motivated in order to achieve positive changes in their lives. Therefore, I offer a directive, client-centered approach to support a secure setting where clients can start to examine and resolve their ambivalence surrounding their concerns.

Most of my counseling experience consists of working with clients who have substance use issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjustment challenges. The most common theoretical approaches I utilize in my counseling work are person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.

As a person-centered therapist, I am certain that a client should look within for the solutions to change.

With my counseling philosophy, I have found that it helps clients to find fulfilling reasons to make productive changes. Therefore, I will use a variety of strategies as we work together in order to personalize your care.
