I am a therapist with almost 40 years of experience having worked in a variety of settings and with diverse populations. I have a multicultural background and I am fluent in both English and Spanish. My graduate training in psychology and experiences in both private practice and public service have helped me develop skills that help clients resolve dilemmas that are holding them back and causing suffering.

Initially, when my clients come to me for assistance, they are often unaware of the true nature of their conflict or think that their problems are rooted in their immediate perceptions.This results in confusion, ambivalence and guilt that keeps them from solving their issue and moving ahead in life. My job is to explore the roots of a client's conflict, identify conflicting thoughts and emotions that are contributing to their feeling stuck and empower them to make choices and move on.

The end goal of therapy is to help clients resolve internal and external conflict. During sessions, I generally focus on learning about how my clients perceive their situation with the purpose of helping them identify conflicting thoughts and emotions that contribute to their anxiety, depression and difficulty identifying solutions. In the initial sessions, I also assess for anxiety and provide immediate suggestions on how to mitigate its effects like practicing relaxation skills.
