A bit about my approach to therapy

Nishi is passionate about the significance of formative relationships, internal

conflicts, developmental tasks, and better understanding how defenses protect us. Nishi began studying with the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. She also draws from other therapeutic perspectives and has certifications in Mindfulness Based

Stress Reduction from UNC Integrative Health Care, Dialectical Behavior Therapy from Triangle Area DBT.

What you can expect from our first session

Having lived abroad for most all her adult life, she has had to adapt to changing circumstances, overcoming cultural and linguistic barriers. Being of Indian descent, she is especially interested in matters of cross-cultural conflict, racial identity, displacement and cultural adjustment. She operates from a client-centered perspective, striving to build a therapeutic alliance with each individual. She brings to her work a genuine culturally sensitive approach.
