Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Nicole Johnson, and I understand the complexities of life and their impact on our relationships, expectations of self, mood, and general functioning. These issues may stem from attachment impingements, trauma, grief, loss, and unexpected transitions. Symptoms related to mental health challenges can be debilitating. They can stunt psychosocial and emotional development along with relational and professional achievements.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I practice an integrated approach but lean toward a psychodynamic lens of attachment, self-psychology, and relational theories.

What does this mean?

While prioritizing the client first, I will bring my whole self into the session in an ethical and treatment-forward manner. I believe in rapport building, pushing past the uncomfortable by facing difficult experiences through empathic and active listening, talk therapy, narrative exposure exercises, value identification, and mindfulness techniques.

What you can expect from our first session

With over 22 years of clinical experience, I recognize that therapy is not a cookie-cutter experience. I use my clinical knowledge to support clients in a safe and attuned space. I will encourage you to be fully human, ready to interact with others, and gain awareness of practicing healthier coping strategies to navigate life's challenges effectively.
