Great to meet you!

Clients have described me as easy to talk to, sensitive, caring, and transparent. I received my master of arts degree in marriage and family therapy in 2014 and have been seeing psychotherapy clients continually since 2011. In addition to general clinical training from school, I have specialized trauma trainings in trauma-focused CBT (for children and teens) and EMDR (for adults and children). My main treatment specialties include anxiety issues, depression, grief, and relationship problems.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My style is to create an emotionally safe environment and to listen carefully to every client as a highly unique individual with a story to tell. I most often utilize a developmental framework such as psychodynamic concepts to find where clients got stuck in their emotional lives. Think "inner child." For example, I lead clients to explore how they learned to relate to their own sadness, fear, and anger so that we can reshape the relationship with self whereby emotional/relational needs are met.

What you can expect from our first session

Firstly, I seek for my clients to have a good relationship with me so that they can learn to take on a healthy, gracious view of themselves and others. In addition to helping them develop coping skills, I ask questions and make comments aimed at helping clients develop self-love plus alleviation of their mental health symptoms. Part of this means leading clients to greater insight about themselves and the world we live in so they can navigate their emotions and relationships beyond therapy.
