Great to meet you!

Hi there, my name is Gabriel Ruiz. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California. I completed both my bachelor's in psychology and my Master of Social Work (MSW) at California State University, Bakersfield. I am currently working on obtaining my Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) at Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts. Our time together isn’t necessarily to rid ourselves of “bad” feelings but to gain the ability to experience a wider range of emotions.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is focused on creating a safe, brave, and affirming space. I use various therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), relational, attachment-based, psychodynamic, strength-based, and person-centered approaches. I utilize a social justice lens to help understand your experience within the society that we live in.

What you can expect from our first session

I have been described as a great listener, caring, humorous, understanding, and open-minded. You are the expert in your life and lived experiences. My goal is to provide an affirming space where we can build on the strengths you already have.

Finding a therapist is a personal experience and finding one that meets your needs is most important. And although tiring, I urge you to keep searching as each therapist provides a unique approach and perspective.
