Great to meet you!
I identify as disabled, neurodivergent, and progressive. I do my best to honor the needs of my clients no matter what their identities. I fervently support the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities and value religious diversity (including nonbelief).
I do this work because I know what its like to be on the other side of this desk. I want to share what I've learned with you.
A bit about my approach to therapy
I practice Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Trauma Focused therapy, Mindfulness, & Solution Focused Therapy.
That means identifying our strengths & looking at the past for solutions as much as problems; Recognizing the link between our beliefs & how we perceive the world; Developing habits that build on our successes; Slowing down long enough to feel our emotions; Building healthy boundaries & setting down the enormous weight of our expectations. It's giving ourselves permission to be loved.
What you can expect from our first session
Acceptance. I believe that there are many correct solutions to any problem. We don't get extra points by doing things in a conventional way. I am here for you, no matter what that looks like.
We will discuss what love (and self-love) really looks and feels like. We will bridge the gap between what we know in our heads and feel in our hearts. We'll process feelings but also learn to soothe them. You can expect insight, compassion, and a renewed sense of hope.
