Great to meet you!

I'm a clinical health psychologist specializing in medically-complex patients (e.g., trauma, surgery, cancer, complex medical course, prolonged hospitalization) in medical settings via supportive & brief therapy interventions during their hospital stay. I conduct therapy, psychological and pre-surgical evaluations in an outpatient setting. I also specialize in anxiety/mood, insomnia, adjustment, stress, acute trauma, bariatric weight loss, chronic pain & relapse prevention interventions.

A bit about my approach to therapy

In therapy, I integrate the bio-psycho-socio-cultural framework with a transtheoretical model of health behavior change. I target pertinent socio-cultural factors impacting health behaviors, chronic illness, psychological functioning/psychopathology. General psychological assessments determine how these factors affect performance and current issues. Pre-surgical evaluations assess how health literacy/numeracy, quality of life, self-efficacy & social support may affect post-surgical outcomes.

What you can expect from our first session

In every session, I make concerted efforts for you to feel heard and validated. I use cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-based and/or solution-focused interventions for health behavior change, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, complex health issues and insomnia. You will take away a practical adaptive coping strategy to add to your coping tool-kit and/or a practical solution to a specific problem.
