Great to meet you!
Hello, my name is Sue McHenry. Thank you for coming to Headway to begin or continue this journey of healing.
To introduce myself, I first want you to know I’m a Christian. We can include faith in our work if you would like, but there’s no pressure. Second, I have a passion for helping survivors of tough situations find their way out and into the life they want. My clinical focus has included trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, work-place difficulties, grief, and more.
A bit about my approach to therapy
To begin, I will answer any questions you have about me or the process. Next, we will discuss what brought you to therapy and establish your goals. Then we will discuss your situation so we can develop and work a plan. My style is to be curious, problem-solving, non-judgmental, and proactive. Sometimes we will just talk, and sometimes we will explore new ways of coping with struggles, problem-solving, and achieving your goals. My therapeutic model is largely Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
What you can expect from our first session
Each session is designed to move you toward your goals. Therapy is no longer just a conversation, but is an environment where you learn new ways of dealing with situations, and then you practice those new skills between sessions. It’s that practice that is the true therapy. Therapy is designed to evoke change that will help you achieve your goals. Some sessions are comforting, and some can be challenging. I work for you, and you set the pace. I’m a guide to help you get where you want to go.
