Build your network with Facebook groups
Connect with colleagues, build a community and promote your private practice.
Facebook groups can help you quickly find fellow providers who have similar specialties or practice in your local community.
By engaging with other professionals in Facebook groups, you can establish yourself, build trust with other professionals and grow your network for referrals.
On the Facebook app or website:
Join the groups that match your area or interests. Note that some may involve a brief waiting period to be approved.
Once you’re in, introduce yourself and engage with other members.
Let the group know you’re hoping to grow your caseload, and share your availability. Consider including info about your specialities and the type of clients you typically work with.
Other providers frequently need to refer prospective clients elsewhere. Many therapists have full caseloads, aren’t the best match for the client’s needs, or—critically—don’t accept a client’s insurance.
With Headway, you can accept lots of different clients, whether they have Optum, Aetna or Cigna.
Let the groups know you can accept all of these plans!
If you’d like, start with one of the provided templates on this page.
Sharing your availability with other providers on Facebook
Template #1
"Hello everyone, I'm a [license type] specializing in [insert specialties here]. I'm currently accepting new clients and taking Optum, Aetna, Cigna, and other commercial insurances. Feel free to refer any clients with these insurances to me or have them book an appointment through my booking link [insert Headway booking URL]. Thanks for your support!"
Template #2
"Great news! I currently have availability in my practice and I'm accepting new clients. I take Optum, Aetna, Cigna, and BCBS commercial insurances. If you know someone who has one of these plans and is looking for a therapist, please refer them directly to me or through my booking link here [insert Headway booking URL]. Thank you for your support!"
If you receive a referral through the group, be sure to follow up promptly. Contact the potential client and schedule a session if appropriate. After the session, follow up with the referring therapist to thank them for the referral.
Headway provider, Joseph Belloirs, uses the template provided on this page to follow up with new clients on Headway. Feel free to start with this template when sending an email or text.
Reaching out to a first-time client
"Hi [client name], I would be happy to help you. Before our appointment together, there are 2 tasks you will need to complete please, which should only take about 10-15 minutes.
Note: The above will come as 2 separate emails. You may need to check your spam folder. Looking forward to working with you! [Name]"
When you receive referrals through your Headway booking link, be sure to provide feedback in the Facebook group. Let them know how the session went and if the patient decided to continue seeing you. This will help build trust and encourage other providers to continue referring clients to you through Headway.

Following up with referring providers on Facebook
"Just wanted to give a shoutout to, [Referring Provider’s Name], who referred a client to me. The client had [insert patient insurance] and I was able to see them through Headway. The session went great and I appreciate the referral. If anyone else has clients with Optum, Aetna, Cigna, or BCBS commercial insurances, feel free to refer them to me. Thank you all for your support!"
