Great to meet you!

Hello! It is great to meet you. My name is Tessa, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Abilene, Texas. Quick facts about me: I love animals, I have a fish tank in my office, and I am afraid of movie endings. I received my Bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian University and my Master's degree from Hardin-Simmons University. I am currently pursuing a doctorate at Walden University in Counselor Education.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Sometimes life is difficult and you need someone to walk with you. My goal is to hold space for you to be yourself, express any and all emotions, and work towards your goals. I specialize in trauma, and I rarely sit still. I love to use art therapy and sandtray along with talk therapy and EMDR. I cannot wait to hear your story.

What you can expect from our first session

Each session is a little different. During a session with me, you can expect to do a quick check-in and then we will start whatever type of therapy you need that day (talk, mindfulness, art, etc). From there, we will discuss different coping skills you can use, look at the root of what is causing you distress, and work towards your goals at your pace. No matter how you are feeling, you are always welcome. Sometimes we celebrate the good days and sometimes we process through the hard times.
