“Beneath every behavior there is a feeling. And beneath each feeling is a need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom." When working with clients, I develop a strong therapeutic relationship, understand their needs and treatment goals, and outline ways to achieve those goals. I empower my clients to improve what is working well for them and provide them with the tools to change what is not working. During my 7 years of experience working as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and over 10 years working in the mental health field, I have developed an expertise in treating individuals with a number of mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, anger and aggression, and personality disorders. My past experience includes providing therapy to service members and their families as well as to youths and their families in foster care. I employ a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. I always work with clients at their pace.
