Great to meet you!

Hello there, My name is Rebecca Welsh and I am a counselor.. I have always loved the quote by CS Lewis: "Friendship begins when one says to the other, 'You too? So do I? I thought I was the only one!' "

I believe shame was the feeling that was felt before that quote was spoken, unfortunately but purposely by God's provision, I happen to know a lot about shame. I enjoy helping clients understand themselves and their stories and walk out of shame and darkness.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I like to get an idea of what our treatment goals will be (what is bringing the prospective client into therapy) and making a plan. I usually will get the client to complete a genogram (family tree) which we discuss in session. I have found experiential modalities such as art or movement to helpful, alternative way to learn about themselves. I believe psychoeducation is a crucial piece of the puzzle in helping clients learn skills to help them cope independently sets them up for the best outcome

What you can expect from our first session

I suppose a counselor/counseling session can be like a mirror but more to the emotions and thoughts to the individual.I like my client to feel safe above all but sometimes what we bring with us into therapy keeps us shut down so after we have established some trust, I will begin noticing habits that may not be serving the client.

Furthermore helping the client become a more self-aware and in-tune to the Spirit, thier flesh and thier humanity
