Melissa is a licensed clinical social worker in New York State with a Bachelors in Science in Applied Psychology from New York University and a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Hunter College. Melissa has extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families. Her therapeutic style is active in the conversation, while being supportive and collaborative. Together with her clients, she creates a nonjudgmental and dynamic environment that amplifies strengths and examines unhelpful patterns. Melissa believes in creating a trusting relationship with her clients and understanding their experiences and contexts. At that point, she creates an understanding and examining of patterns that are no longer serve clients. Together, they work to shift unhelpful patterns by creating new ways of coping in order to reach their full potential. Melissa believes in an engaging two-way discussion in individual therapy. In couples therapy she guides each person to discover and share deeper feelings to one another to allow healing and understanding. Melissa has a way of seeing multilayered dynamics, how people get caught in roles they want to break free from, and is passionate about creating a space where clients can safely speak about themselves and heal.
