Martha Gavilanes specializes in trauma, anxiety, immigration, depression, addiction, relationships, family conflict, and codependency challenges. She also has extensive experience working with members of the LGBTQIA community, individuals who identify as Latino/a, and individuals who have HIV and/or a chronic medical illness. She offers sessions in both English and Spanish.
Martha takes a person-centered, supportive approach that focuses on utilizing mindfulness practices to help her clients manage their symptoms and learn how to self-heal. She believes the therapist-client connection is one of the most important elements of therapy, so she takes the time to really listen to her clients before coming up with a treatment plan. She offers her clients tools that they can use between sessions, including strategies that can help them relax, be present in the moment, and reduce ineffective behaviors.
Martha brings her authentic self into the therapy room and is there to learn alongside her clients. She is passionate about the work she does and looks forward to supporting her clients however she can.
