A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Therapy can help client's take that first step. My style is interactive and goal-oriented. I use evidence-based models to help client's explore and reach desired goals, overcome obstacles preventing growth and self-awareness, both necessary aspects to feeling better and improve well-being and quality-of-life. With the client, we explore the six dimensions of wellness, and examine relationships and behaviors to find an appropriate balance. We examine changing maladaptive negative behaviors, and replacing them with positive life-enriching behaviors.
Therapies: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention Therapy, ACT, Relaxation Techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and the Gottman Method Couples therapy. My specialties include Bereavement, Couples/Marriage counseling, Anxiety, Depression and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
I am trained in Chair Yoga and incorporate it in my practice for those interested. Chair Yoga has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, improves mental clarity, balance, flexibility, strength and energy. It is an efficient method to feel grounded when distressed, gain focus, and stay physically fit.
