Whether working with children, teens or adults, my approach is flexible, compassionate and collaborative. Sometimes we become stuck in painful or unsatisfying ways-of-being and need a safe space to learn about ourselves, to heal and to grow. Issues I commonly work with include behavioral concerns, relationships, life transitions, self-esteem, anxiety, depression and trauma. I work with clients to understand the impact of past experiences on the present, but also focus on the here-and-now in session and incorporate mindfulness practices, coping strategies and other practical tools to promote self-care and manage overwhelm. I have extensive training in trauma treatment, including EMDR and Somatic Experiencing, a body-oriented approach to healing of trauma and other stress disorders. With young children, my approach is primarily play-based, and I work closely with parents to promote sustainable changes. I also have years of experience working with college and grad students.
Finding the right therapist is a very personal process, and I am happy to provide a phone consultation at no charge to see if we might be a good fit. I understand that starting therapy for the first time can be daunting and confusing, and I hope to make you feel safer and more comfortable with this process.
