About Me

Welcome! I've been providing mental health services in a variety of contexts since 2016. My priority in treatment is to provide a trauma-informed approach to every person I work with.

Here are some things to know about my beliefs when it comes to life and therapy:

  • Life is inherently difficult at times and emotional pain is inevitable. These are things that we don’t talk about a lot in a culture of toxic positivity. You are not broken, weak, or “crazy” for struggling with difficult things and your mental health. Even though you may be in great pain right now, there is always the possibility to grow, heal, and create a fulfilling and meaningful life.

  • My role as your therapist is not to give you advice or to tell you what to do. Therapy works best if we work together as a team to develop and identify your goals, work together to overcome obstacles, and celebrate when there are successes. You are the expert on yourself, your life, and what you’d like to accomplish - I just bring my experience and training.

  • I practice evidence-based therapies that have been shown in research to be effective in treating mental health symptoms, but I don’t practice a one-size-fits-all treatment. Every individual who works with me has a very different life and very different struggles and my first priority is to get to know and understand you as a person. Even if you’ve been given a mental health diagnosis, that is only one piece of the puzzle, not your whole story. I work to help you in a way that makes the most sense for your unique set of circumstances and needs.

I have received extensive training in mental health therapy and assessment from The Ohio State University, Yale University, and the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have also received training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which is the primary modality I utilize, Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

I hold certifications in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, as well as Anti-Oppression Informed Practice and am committed to taking into consideration systematic issues which may be impacting you as well as multicultural concerns important to you. I am an LGBTQ-affirmative therapist.
