Great to meet you!
I received my master’s degree at Georgia State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am most passionate about working with couples. I believe as a couples counselor it is crucial that I approach counseling from an open-minded but informed lens in order to effectively work with you to create meaningful and lasting growth in your relationship. I have completed Gottman Level 1 and Level 2 Training as well as begun a year-long training course in Developmental Model Couples Counseling.
A bit about my approach to therapy
I conduct therapy from a holistic and strengths-based approach in which I observe the couple as a whole in the context of their lived experience. I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal once obstacles are removed. We were not born knowing how to develop and maintain healthy relationship but understanding why we are the way we are can empower us to step outside the negative beliefs and patterns and cultivate heathier and more enriching relationships.
What you can expect from our first session
I often find that both partners are under the impression that the other partner has the most work and growth to do to improve this relationship. However, it is important that you know I expect you both to make your own individual objectives and goals in the therapy. Your dynamic as a couple and communication patterns you have established involve you both so in order to expect any changes both partners must be open to learning and growing.
