Great to meet you!

My name is Diannah Harris. I am a native of eastern North Carolina. I graduated from UNC Charlotte with BS in Criminal Justice and a BA in Sociology in 1998. I graduated from Webster University with a MA in Counseling with a Marriage and Family Emphasis. I am licensed by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Common Sense Parenting Trainer-Boys and Girls Town USA and a Certified Strengthening Families Facilitator.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My personal orientation to counseling is integrative. I use different theoretical approaches based on clinical needs of clients. The orientations regularly used are cognitive behavioral, family systems and trauma focused. I have 25 years of experience providing intervention with clients in a variety of settings. I have provided individual, family and group therapy. I work with all populations-adults, youth, adolescents, families and couples.

What you can expect from our first session

My primary role in the therapeutic relationship is to motivate and provide seeds of change to clients and allow them to develop their own plan of improvement based on problems they identify in their lives. The main goal in counseling is to increase the client’s awareness of positive choices and to introduce them to systematic ways of getting to positive results in treatment that they can use in their lives on a daily basis.
