Great to meet you!

Daniel Shopsin is a client-centered, attachment theory informed, CBT-minded therapist. He has significant experience with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, self-esteem, ADHD and life transitions. He believes a strong therapeutic relationship involves trust and safety. Sometimes new insights alone are not enough. In such cases, structured conversation and homework might be necessary to heal and make life changes.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Successful therapy starts with the formation of the counselor-client bond. I view psychic injuries, biological dispositions, and successful experiences as shaping our present. The past affects how we relate to others and why we carry wounds into the present; new and old life events can lead to self-destructive coping. Therapy can heal wounds and impart insight. Symptoms and diagnosis need not define us. We can learn to appreciate life’s joy and successes.

What you can expect from our first session

Our counseling experience starts with a phone screening. I will ask a couple questions to get an idea of what you are going through. If I have the right tools and you feel comfortable, we will proceed to the paperwork and set up our first Telehealth session. Some people believe things are just the way they are, there are no solutions to their problems. I believe devoting regular time for counseling fosters self-awareness and can enable new ways of understanding why you are stuck.
