Initially we would develop a way to trust one another so you would feel comfortable opening up about what is going on inside of your mind. Then together we would discover what is getting in the way of you living the life you want.
My approach tends to look at how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors may influence you. As well as how your body gets involved in this process which may be helping or hindering you, depending on what your goals are. I also like to utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to teach specific skills that can help you decrease distress and increase creating your life worth living. I have years of experience working with first responders (Military/Veterans/Police/Fire) and their families. I also have years of experience working with people in recovery.
I am easy going and tend to use some humor to enhance our therapeutic relationship to make it more enjoyable and productive.
