Great to meet you!
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience providing therapy. I graduated from Smith College with a BA and then went on to NYU to pursue my masters in social work. I have spent the majority of my career providing therapy to folks who are experiencing anxiety and depression and I specialize in trauma-informed work. As a mixed-race person, I also spend a lot of time thinking about identity and how that impacts how we walk through life and how the world responds to us.
A bit about my approach to therapy
I like to use an eclectic and strengths based approach with all my clients. Everyone is unique and I don't think there's a "one style fits all" way to experience therapy, so as we spend time together and get to know each other, we can figure out what feels right and most helpful, from psychodynamic to mindfulness based to cognitive behavioral therapy. I find it is imperative to use an anti-oppressive lens as we process life experiences and work on gaining insight into who we truly are.
What you can expect from our first session
In our first session together, we'll spend time exploring what brought you to therapy at this moment in your life and what you're hoping to achieve through our work together. I am here as a support and a guide, helping you dig deeper into what you're experiencing and how it's impacting you. As we learn more about ourselves, we then can learn how to gain more control over different areas of our lives and break old patterns that are no longer serving us.
