Life’s got you feeling alone, not good enough, lacking confidence...The dark knight of your soul threatens, judges and criticizes. Escape is futile says the hamster held hostage circling itself sick. Your struggle is real and so is the refuge you seek.

I work with this scenario often enough to know you’re not the only one who feels trapped. Transitions come in all shapes and sizes. Unfamiliar patterns can be triggering because of the biological need for safety. Strength of survival is evolutionary, a privilege humans love to hate. You’re not an “imposter,” more like a resilient survivor who is vulnerable sometimes. It’s easier when there are supporters who get you. Trusting and opening up is no cakewalk but your voice matters and I have ears to hear it.

I’m Amy, a licensed clinical social worker with a university background in psychology and studio art. I frequently use metaphors because I process information visually. I prefer to self-soothe with paint on canvas. Maybe you cope differently. Self soothing is a preference. You are the expert on you since you live inside your mind. I can teach you how to befriend your mind so it’s got your back! My style is person centered and solution-focused.

I teach classic CBT and DBT strategies to inquiring minds. I want you mentally prepared with tools to break feedback loops. You will need them when I’m not around. I like to empower by psycho-educating because knowledge is power. Communication can be unpredictable but formulas offer control and conflict resolution.

We can’t eliminate fear from life’s equation but we can laugh in its face if it makes things easier. Perhaps you agree that humor can be therapeutic sometimes. Finding a compatible therapist is important. We might be a good fit if this bio resonates. We all must find our way on life’s journey. Thankfully, free-will governs our right to choose. Choose a therapist that meets you where you are on your path, and don’t forget to prioritize YOU!
