As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am able to see individuals, couples, and families. I have experience in working with adults, teens, and adolescents. With over 5 years of working in the eating disorder field, I specialize in helping individuals recover from their eating disorder. I also have experience in working with individuals struggling with adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms, PTSD, sexual and complex trauma, borderline personality disorder, other personality disorders, grief and loss, and co-occurring substance use issues.
My counseling style is strengths and values based; compassion-based and trauma-informed; evidence-based; and multiculturally-informed and curious. What this really means is that I focus on identifying strengths and values as guides to healing and change and aim to help grow individuals' self-compassion and sense of self-worth. I often do this while acknowledging how past pain, family dynamics, and trauma can impact our present lives. I used evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, and ACT to help individuals learn more effective ways to process and cope with these experiences. I utilize Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help clients heal from trauma and PTSD symptoms. When working with couples and families, I use Family Systems Theory with techniques from the Gottman Method for Healthy Relationships and ePREP Program to help improve the ability of couples and families to communicate and ultimately improve the quality of their relationship.
