Headway

As a therapist, I believe in co-creating spaces that support and celebrate the humanity and stories of everyone. I have experience working with marginalized populations, and my approach is collaborative, relational, strength-based. I center social justice and multicultural framework in my counseling.

I'm constantly thinking about how I can use my power as a therapist to better the relationship and collaborate with my clients. I also remind my clients that they have choices in the therapist-client relationship and how they want it to look. I help my clients improve their relationships in addition to looking at how race, gender, religion, and other social structures impact their life. I'll incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when appropriate to give my clients concrete skills, like overcoming negative self-talk, and exploring the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I start off with building safety and trust and have found that this helps individuals with a history of trauma feel more prepared to speak about their experience(s). If I find that a client is feeling overwhelmed, I'll step in and have them do a breathing exercise or a grounding exercise to slow things down.

I believe everyone deserves to live their most authentic life, feel accepted and safe. I'm here to support my clients as they embark on a journey towards healing, wholeness, authenticity and abundance. I look forward to meeting you.
