Akira Olsen, PsyD, MA is a board-certified clinical psychologist. She has 17+ years of clinical and counseling experience working with adolescents, parents, families, and adults in various San Francisco Bay Area settings, including community mental health clinics, schools, women's and family shelters, telehealth clinics, and private practice. She worked as a clinical researcher, faculty, and clinical supervisor at Stanford University and Palo Alto University from 2018-2022.

A bit about my approach to therapy

She was initially psychodynamically trained and has had training in various modalities including but not limited to: Cognitive-behavior therapy, Child and Family therapy, Adolescent Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Neuropsychological Assessment, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (Levels I & II),

What you can expect from our first session

She strives to provide client-centered, evidence-based, feedback-informed, culturally competent, developmentally appropriate, and individualized services to her clients. Her goals include symptom reduction, development of coping skills, enhancement of self confidence, self esteem, and motivation, and better mental and emotion health.
